Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games
The Kincardine Scottish Festival & Highland Games is an annual event held each summer and brings thousands of tourists to the small town. Founded in 2000, the event features traditional highland sports, pipe bands, highland dance, parades, and evening concerts.
Going into its 17th year, the Scottish Festival is one of the largest and well known events for locals. However, the organizers want to grow and evolve the festival, and the key is to have tourist attend. With tourists in mind and full control over the design system, I explored three key objectives:
- Simply information
- Better wayfinding symbols
- Incorporate local landmarks into identity
Using local landmarks and the colours of the Kincardine tartan as the main inspiration, I created a system of elements that can be used to create various compositions across different platforms. See my full design process here.
